HARIO cold drip coffee makerIce melts, coffee extracts, and six hours later you have smooth cold brew.
This is HARIO's take on the Dutch coffee tower. Three stacked glass chambers hold ice water on top, coffee grounds in the middle, and finished brew at the bottom. An adjustable valve controls the drip rate. Choose the acrylic stand for a minimal look or the natural wood stand for warmth on the counter.
- Slow drip extraction, low acidity
- Adjustable stainless steel valve
- Glass chambers, wood or acrylic stand
- Six to eight hour brew time
Why slow drip beats a pitcher
Cold brew pitcher
- Grounds steep for twelve to twenty-four hours
- Some sediment makes it through
- Flavor can turn bitter with long steeps
Slow drip tower
- Ice water drips through at a controlled rate
- Clean extraction with no sediment
- Lower acidity and smoother finish
The drip method takes less time and gives you more control.
What makes this one worth it
Precision control
The stainless steel valve adjusts drip rate from one drop every few seconds to a steady trickle. Slower pulls more flavor, faster gets you to the cup sooner.
Clean glass design
Heat-resistant borosilicate glass for every chamber. You see the water level drop, the coffee darken, and the brew collect.
Two stand options
Acrylic is modern and unobtrusive. Wood adds warmth and weight. Both hold the chambers steady.
Use a medium-coarse grind
Too fine and the water pools without dripping. Too coarse and it runs past the coffee without extracting flavor. Aim for a grind size close to French press.
From ice to cold brew
-
Fill the top with ice and cold water
Use the markings as a guide. Ice melts slowly and keeps the temperature steady.
-
Add grounds to the middle chamber
Spread them evenly. A paper filter on top prevents channeling.
-
Adjust the valve and let it drip
Start with one drop per second. Six to eight hours gives you balanced brew.
-
Pour from the bottom carafe
The brew comes out as concentrate. Drink it over ice, cut it with water or milk, or store it sealed in the fridge for up to a week.
Watch how it works
- Grinding the coffee beans
- Placing the filter and grounds
- Wetting the coffee grounds
- Adding ice and water
What you get
Answered
How long does the HARIO cold drip coffee maker take to brew?
Six to eight hours depending on your drip rate. One drop per second is a good starting point. Adjust the valve to speed it up or slow it down based on how strong you want the concentrate.
Can I use regular ground coffee?
You need a medium-coarse grind, similar to French press. Pre-ground coffee for drip machines is usually too fine and will clog. Grind your own beans or ask your roaster to grind for cold drip. If you want faster hot brewing, the V60 wood stand set brews in minutes instead of hours.
What is the difference between the wood and acrylic stands?
Acrylic is lighter and transparent. Wood is heavier and adds warmth. Both hold the chambers securely and brewing performance is identical.
How do I clean it?
Disassemble the three chambers and rinse each with warm water. The valve unscrews for cleaning. Use a bottle brush for the reservoir, then allow all components to dry completely before reassembling.
