IKAPE Spring Espresso Tamper or Gravity Leveler, 51 to 58.35mm

A spring espresso tamper or leveler, cut to your basketPick the tool, pick the diameter, and every puck starts flat.
Every option here is a single IKAPE tool in a single basket diameter: the V3 or V4 spring-loaded espresso tamper, or the gravity leveler, offered at 51mm (2.01 in), at 58.35mm (2.3 in), or as a 53.3mm size that equals 2.1 inches. The tamper presses with constant spring force through a titanium-plated stainless steel base, under a walnut and anodized aluminum handle. It suits home and café baristas who want the same packing pressure on every shot.
- Made to your basket diameter
- Spring tamper for steady pressure
- Gravity leveler evens the bed
- Titanium-coated steel base
Three diameters on offer
Compact basket
In-between basket
Commercial-width basket
Each selector option pairs one tool with one diameter.
Read the inside width of your basket first
Take the empty basket out and read its opening edge to edge on the inside. Choose the option nearest that figure. Too small a base leaves loose grounds at the wall; too large will not go in.
A lumpy bed against a level one
Tamp straight from the grinder
- Grounds pile up or slide to one side
- High spots get crushed harder
- Water finds the loose path and the shot channels
Level, then tamp
- The gravity leveler adjusts to your dose depth
- Grounds spread out to the wall
- The spring tamper presses with the same force
Less channeling means fewer sour or bitter shots from the same beans.
What you are choosing
Keep it out of the sink. Soaking harms the walnut and the coated base. Wipe with a damp cloth instead and let it dry before you put it away.
Before you choose
Which espresso tamper size fits my portafilter?
Go by the inside width of the basket you brew with. Full-size machines usually take a 58mm (2.3 in) basket, which makes the 58.35mm option your 58mm espresso tamper. Smaller home machines often call for the 51mm (2.01 in) or the 53.3mm version, which works out to 2.1 inches.
Why use a gravity leveler before tamping?
Because pressing only flattens the shape the dose already has, so a lopsided mound stays lopsided. For clumpy grounds, rake them first with the IKAPE auto-rotating WDT tool, then level.
How do I clean a titanium-coated coffee tamper?
A damp cloth after each session, then a dry one. Scouring pads can wear the coating, and neither tool needs oil.
What pairs well with these tools?
A funnel keeps grounds inside the rim, and a stand holds the portafilter still. Try the IKAPE magnetic dosing funnel with the IKAPE tamping station.
