HARIO Smart G Portable Coffee Grinder, Rechargeable Mill Stick
Guaranteed Safe Checkout
HARIO Smart G and Mobile Mill StickA rechargeable grinder that packs into a bag and still works when the battery is flat.
The Smart G is a portable coffee grinder in two parts: the Mobile Mill Stick, a rechargeable motor 18 cm (7.1 in) long, and a ceramic burr hand mill that holds 24 g (0.8 oz) of grounds, about two cups. Seat the stick on the mill and it grinds at the press of a switch; lift it off and the mill still grinds by hand. It is a travel coffee grinder for pour over, AeroPress and French press away from your kitchen.
- About 25 grinds per charge
- Micro USB charging
- Ceramic burrs
- Hand crank backup
Do you already own a HARIO hand mill?
Motorize the mill you have
The Mobile Mill Stick with a conversion adapter and holders for two HARIO hand mills, the Smart G (MSG-2) and the Mini Mill Slim (MSS-1). No mill in the box.
Start from nothing
The same stick plus the Smart G ceramic hand mill, ready to grind out of the box. Choose this if you do not own an MSG-2 or MSS-1.
HARIO lists the stick for the MSG-2 and MSS-1 mills only. Check the model code on your mill before you pick the stick-only version.
Travel first, not the home counter
This one is for you if
- You travel for work and want fresh-ground pour over in a hotel room.
- You brew one or two cups at a time for V60, AeroPress or French press.
- You like light roasts. HARIO built the motor to handle hard, lightly roasted beans.
- You want a cordless grinder for the camping box or the office drawer.
Look elsewhere if
- You grind at home every day. The HARIO V60 Compact EVC-8 takes 100 g a batch on a small counter, and the HARIO V60 Electric Grinder is the pour over specialist.
- You want espresso on the road. The IKAPE portable electric grinder is built for espresso.
- You brew a big pot. Each load is 24 g, about two cups.

The details
Answered plainly
Which HARIO mills does the stick fit?
The MSG-2 Smart G and the MSS-1 Mini Mill Slim. The stick-only version ships with an adapter for each. HARIO does not list other mills, so read the model code on your mill before you order the stick alone.
Does it charge with USB-C?
No, it charges through Micro USB, and that cable is in the box. Pack it with the grinder, since most new phone chargers come with USB-C cables.
Can it grind for espresso?
It is made for filter coffee: pour over, AeroPress and French press. For espresso, a grinder built for fine, repeatable espresso steps will serve you better.
What makes a good coffee grinder for travel?
One that survives a bag and still grinds when the power runs out. The Smart G does both: a rechargeable stick for everyday use, and a hand crank on the same ceramic burrs as the fallback. Ceramic burrs also transfer less heat to the beans than a blade.
