1Zpresso K-Ultra manual coffee grinder48 mm heptagonal conical burrs, 20 microns per click, a handle that folds for the bag.
The 1Zpresso K-Ultra is a manual coffee grinder with 48 mm stainless steel conical burrs and an external dial that moves the burr 20 microns per click, 100 clicks per rotation. It grinds 35 to 40 g of beans per load, weighs about 700 g (1.5 lb) and folds its handle for travel. It is for the coffee drinker who brews pour-over most days, pulls an espresso now and then, and wants one grinder for the kitchen and the suitcase. Matte Black or Platinum Silver.

One grinder, three jobs
Pour-over
The everyday job. At 20 microns a click you can move a recipe a small step finer or coarser and taste the difference, cup after cup. The heptagonal K burr was designed to cover a range of brew methods.
Espresso
1Zpresso lists the K-Ultra for espresso as well as pour-over, and the fine click is what makes dialing a shot by hand workable. Right for one or two shots a day.
Travel
The handle folds, the catch cup is magnetic with a twist-off design, and it comes with a case. At about 700 g, it is a grinder you will actually pack.
How to read the dial
-
Find zero
Turn the dial counterclockwise until the handle begins to spin with resistance. That is zero, not the tightest point you can force. The pointer should sit at #0.
-
Count numbers and clicks
One rotation is 10 numbers, or 100 clicks. Each click moves the burr 0.02 mm, so one number is 10 clicks and 0.2 mm.
-
Write settings down
A setting is read from zero: 6.5 means clockwise to #6 plus 5 clicks. Past one full round, 12.3 means one rotation, then #2 and 3 clicks, 123 clicks in all.
Start fine for espresso and well coarser for pour-over, then move a few clicks at a time until the cup tastes right. New beans, new check.

The details
Answered plainly
Is the K-Ultra good for espresso?
Yes, at home volumes. 1Zpresso makes it for pour-over, espresso and other methods, and the 20 micron click lets you dial a shot in small steps. If you pull several shots back to back every morning, an electric grind-by-weight grinder saves your arm.
Can I wash the burrs with water?
No. 1Zpresso says not to wash or soak the grinder. Clean the burrs and catch cup with the brush and air blower that come in the box.
Is it worth it over a basic hand grinder?
It is if you will use the adjustment. The external dial with 20 micron clicks, the 48 mm burrs and the folding build are what set it apart. If you only brew French press, a simpler grinder will do.
Matte Black or Platinum Silver, what changes?
Only the finish. Both colors have the same burrs, dial, catch cup and folding handle.
