Guaranteed Safe Checkout
De'Longhi Classic EM450.MA manual espresso machine with a pressure gauge on the front.
The De'Longhi Classic EM450.M is a manual pump espresso machine in silver stainless steel. It pairs a 15 bar pump, tuned for a consistent 9 bar extraction, with Thermoblock heating, a 57 oz (1.7 L) water tank and a chrome pressure gauge that shows the shot in real time. A steam wand with two settings handles milk. It is for the home cook who wants to learn espresso by watching the needle instead of guessing.
- Live pressure gauge
- 2-setting steam wand
- Thermoblock heating
- 57 oz water tank
What the needle tells you
Most entry espresso machines hide the pressure. The Classic puts it on the front, in chrome, where you can see it while the coffee runs. The pump is rated at 15 bar, and De'Longhi sets it up to deliver a steady 9 bar at the coffee, the pressure espresso is traditionally brewed at.
Use it as feedback. If the needle barely rises and the shot gushes, grind finer or add a little coffee. If it climbs high and the cup only drips, grind coarser or tamp lighter. Change one thing at a time, and the next shot shows you whether it worked.
Two steam settings, two kinds of drink
Steamed milk
Silky, lightly aerated milk for lattes and flat whites. Keep the tip low in the pitcher and let the milk spin.
Frothed milk
Rich, velvety foam for cappuccinos. Works with dairy milk and plant-based alternatives.

Classic, Dedica Duo or Magnifica S
The Classic is for you if
- You want to learn espresso and like seeing the pressure while you do it.
- You make milk drinks and want a choice between steamed and frothed milk.
- Your counter has about 23 cm (9 in) of width to spare.
Look elsewhere if
- Your counter is tight or you want cold brew. The Dedica Duo EC890 is 15 cm wide and has a cold brew button.
- You want the machine to grind and brew for you. The Magnifica S is fully automatic with a built-in grinder.
Check before you buy: it takes 51 mm tools
The portafilter is 51 mm and ships with pressurized baskets, which build a crema even with pre-ground coffee. If you add a tamper or baskets later, buy 51 mm, not 58 mm. The one extra worth having is a small coffee scale with a timer: weigh the dose and time the shot, and the gauge reading becomes a recipe you can repeat.

Straight answers
Is the De'Longhi Classic a good espresso machine?
For learning espresso at home, yes. It has what many machines at this level leave out: a pressure gauge you can read during the shot, Thermoblock heating that gets to temperature quickly, and a steam wand with two settings. It has no grinder, so plan on ground coffee or a separate grinder.
Can it make iced coffee drinks?
Yes, by pouring a fresh double over ice. De'Longhi suggests it for iced caramel macchiatos and espresso martinis. It has no cold brew setting.
Is this the same machine as the Linea Classic?
Yes. De'Longhi's North American pages call the EM450 the Classic, and many retailers list it as the Linea Classic. The model code is the same.
How do I keep it clean?
Purge and wipe the steam wand after every milk drink, knock out and rinse the portafilter after each shot, and empty the drip tray daily. The steam wand comes off for a deeper clean, and regular descaling keeps the Thermoblock working well.
