El Rocio Manus S E61 espresso machineOne big boiler, a PID, a pressure knob and two gauges.
The El Rocio Manus S is a semi-automatic E61 espresso machine with a 1.8 L (61 oz) heat exchanger boiler, so you can pull a shot and steam milk at the same time. A PID controls temperature, a knob adjusts pump pressure, and two gauges show brew and steam pressure as you work. It has a white powder-coated stainless steel body, a 58mm group and a 2.4 L (81 oz) top-fill tank. Made for home baristas who make milk drinks every day and want one boiler to look after.
- Brew and steam together
- PID temperature control
- Pressure knob, two gauges
- 2.4 L top-fill tank
Heat exchanger or dual boiler?
Heat exchanger, the Manus S
- One 1.8 L boiler held at steam temperature, so steam is always ready
- Fresh brew water is heated on its way through the boiler, then through the E61 group
- One boiler to heat, fill and descale
- A short flush before the shot settles the group after the machine sits idle
Dual boiler
- A second boiler only for brew water, with its own set temperature
- No flush routine, and you can change brew temperature per coffee
- More parts to heat, fill and maintain
- That route with flow control: the Lelit Bianca V3
If you pull one or two shots and steam milk for each, a PID heat exchanger like the Manus S covers it with one boiler.
From cold machine to cappuccino
-
Switch on early
El Rocio puts heat-up at about 12 to 15 minutes. Use it to grind and warm the cups on the top tray.
-
Flush and dose
Run a short flush through the group to settle it and rinse the screen, then dose and tamp the 58mm basket.
-
Set pressure, pull
Dial pump pressure with the knob and set the pre-infusion time to suit the coffee. The brew gauge shows what the puck sees.
-
Steam
The no-burn wand with a 3-hole tip stays cool to the touch. Purge and wipe it after every pitcher.
Before you order, check the space
The Manus S is 27 cm (10.6 in) wide, 48.6 cm (19.1 in) deep and 41.2 cm (16.2 in) tall, and weighs about 20 kg (44 lb). The tank fills from the top, so leave room above the machine to lift the lid, and a clear spot where it can stay put.
Manus S at a glance
Answered plainly
Is the Manus S a lever or hand-press machine?
No. Older listings called it hand-pressed, but the Manus S is a pump-driven semi-automatic. You lift the E61 lever to start the shot and lower it to stop, and the pump and PID do the rest.
What is an E61 group head?
It is the heavy brass group Faema introduced in 1961. Hot water circulates through it by thermosyphon, which keeps it at brew temperature, and more than 4 kg (8.8 lb) of brass smooths out swings. It also gives a gentle pre-infusion at lower pressure before the full shot.
Can I brew and steam at the same time?
Yes. That is what the heat exchanger is for. The 1.8 L boiler supplies steam while the brew water passes through it separately, so you can froth milk while the shot runs.
Who makes the Manus S?
El Rocio, a South Korean espresso machine brand run by Flowell Co., Ltd. Manus S is the model name. Pair it with a grinder made for espresso, such as the Eureka Mignon Libra.
