- Sized for 58 mm baskets
- Needles break up clumps
- Even bed before the tamp
- Midnight Black finish

What clumps do to a shot
Tamping straight from the grinder
- Clumps and loose pockets sit side by side in the basket
- Water finds the weak spots and rushes through them
- Part of the puck under-extracts and the cup tastes thin
Combing with the needles first
- Clumps break apart before you press down
- Grounds settle to a more even density
- Every part of the puck offers water an equal amount of resistance
The difference shows most with a bottomless portafilter, where spurts and side streams are easy to spot.

Three moves before the tamp
-
Grind into the basket
Dose your coffee into the 58 mm basket as usual, straight from the grinder.
-
Work the needles through
Move the needles through the full depth of the bed until the clumps are gone and the grounds look loose.
-
Settle and tamp
Tap the portafilter gently so the coffee settles, and then tamp it flat.

Check your basket size first
This tool fits 58 mm (2.28 in) baskets only. Prior to ordering, measure how wide your basket is across its inner edge. If it comes out smaller, the MUVNA rotary WDT needle is offered in several sizes.

Straight answers
What is a WDT tool used for?
A WDT tool breaks up clumps in freshly ground coffee and spreads it evenly in the basket before you tamp. This one uses needles to do that job and is sized for 58 mm portafilters.
Does a coffee distribution tool help with channeling?
Yes, that is its main job. Channeling starts where the puck is uneven, and combing out clumps first removes many of those weak spots. Grind size, dose and a level tamp still matter.
Will it fit my espresso machine?
Any portafilter that holds a 58 mm basket will work with it. What matters is the size of the basket rather than who made the machine, so measure the inner diameter of yours before you buy.
Do I still need a leveler after a needle?
It is optional. Some home baristas use both in sequence.
Is it right for your setup
A good fit if you
- Pull espresso with a 58 mm portafilter
- Noticing lumps in the grounds or jets shooting out of the basket
- Want a set of puck prep tools next to a MUVNA dosing cup
Look elsewhere if you
- Use a basket smaller than 58 mm
- Brew only pour-over or drip, where puck prep does not apply
