Espresso tamper with a walnut grip and rippled steel facePick the diameter that fills your basket, then press level.
Made for home baristas, this espresso tamper presses your grounds with a food-grade stainless steel base cut in concentric ripples, held by a walnut finish hardwood handle. You choose a base of 51, 53 or 58 mm across (2.01, 2.09 or 2.28 in), matched to the basket in your portafilter. Pick it if you want a simple tool with a warm wooden grip.

Not sure which one you have? The tip below takes a minute.
Check your basket with a ruler
Take the basket out, then rest a ruler across its upper rim and measure from one inner edge to the opposite one. Pick the size that matches that figure. A tamper that is too narrow leaves grounds loose against the wall, while one that is too wide just will not fit into the steel face.
What you are holding
Ripple face
Concentric rings print a ripple pattern on the coffee bed. Enjoy the texture; a level, firm press still does the real work.
Walnut finish handle
Hardwood gives your palm something warm and steady to push against, and it looks right beside other wooden bar tools.
Steel where it counts
The part that meets your grounds is food-grade stainless steel, ready for daily use at a home espresso bar.
Right for you, or not
A good pick if
- Your basket diameter is one of the three listed
- You want a plain hand tamper with a wooden grip
- You like a ripple pattern on top of the puck
Look elsewhere if
- Your basket measures something other than these three sizes
- You would rather tamp with a spring mechanism, like the iKAPE spring loaded tamper

Build and sizes
Before you tamp
Which base diameter should I order?
Order the number printed on your basket or in your machine manual. If neither tells you, a ruler across the basket opening settles it between 51, 53 and 58.
Does a ripple base make better espresso?
Not by itself. The rings change how the top of the puck looks. Your grind, dose and a level press shape the shot far more than the pattern does.
What goes well with the 58mm espresso tamper?
A place to park it and a place to press. The walnut tamper holder stand is cut for that size, and a solid wood tamping station gives the portafilter a steady seat while you work.
How do I clean this coffee tamper?
Knock off loose grounds and wipe the base with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Keep the wooden handle out of the dishwasher and out of standing water, since soaking is hard on wood.
